Grand Text Auto

I decided to follow Grand Text Auto for the rest of the semester. Because I'm intrigued by randomness, and the collaging of arbitrary text and images, I was immediately struck by a posting about new commissions from Turbulence, which "commissions artists exploring the Internet, and who both use existing applications and technologies and develop new ones to create innovative work."

While the book project about Networked Art was interesting, especially for its collaboration and openness, Jody Zellen's Without a Trace really drew me in. Turbulence describes her project as, "
Each day for a year, a comic image, a trace drawing, and three words from the original comic strip will be randomly selected from an archive. These will be juxtaposed with live text and image feeds from the New York Times online." See more in About the Project.
